Practice Makes Something.
So in keeping with my promises of adding more video content, I’m starting up my practice sessions series! Pretty unedited and always unscripted, that idea is just to open a window into my world and process! Being that I am a self-taught everything, I learned how to play guitar and every other instrument for that matter from playing along to records. Things should be in full swing in the coming weeks.
In the past, I had been asked about sharing videos on Facebook and the socials about sharing practice videos, but I rarely noodle with anything larger than a honey tone, and to be honest, it’s not really how I spend the majority of my practice time. I just play along to a song! If I like a song, I most likely know how to play it! I love music and love the otherworldly connection it provides, but I digress. I think we figured out how to handle it.
I didn’t share video before, because it’s mostly me playing along to someone else’s song, and I didn’t get permission to do that. I’m sensitive to that stuff as I wouldn’t want someone using my stuff without at least an ask, or heads up, and a link back to the source. I’m easy. Dealing with a band like Smashing Pumpkins I wouldn’t know who or where to start. Thanks to youtube and the systems they have in place there, I believe I can share some practice video’s there and the owner of the original works get the compensation! So provided the owners of the songs I practice that I didn’t write are compensated I’ll open the floodgates. If for any reason something changes thought I’ll let you know here!
So it would seem there is a fix and a solution to sort out the payments and such! Firing up the video solutions and getting practicing away! I’m hoping I get selected for one of the performance opportunities at the CD Baby DIY Music Conference in Nashville. If not I’ll still happily attend, and hopefully, make a whole lot of friends!
If you’re going, shoot me a message or an email! I’d love to hear from you!
